Where’s the Love?
Posted on 05.17.05 by A 47 Danger @ 10:08 am

PS3As thrilled as I am that Sony decided to put the Spiderman movie logo on the side of their next generation counsel, it seems a bit unloving. Standing up tall like an obelisk from the movie 2001 aside, the system is a barren wasteland.

I know, I know. It’s what is inside the box that counts. However, this thing will be at the center of my home entertainment system sitting in my living room. I want to feel a little love from it. Not the cold glance of a music store employee. Yeah, I’m buying NOW Volume 2 . I’m being ironic. Don’t judge me!

Where was I? Oh yeah, love. Maybe we can put a little hippie flower holder on the side, like a Volkswagen Bug. Why not flash wildly like a raver’s cell phone? How about just the words “I love you” on the side.

Am I asking too much of my machinery? Video games are about fun and community. Not sitting your bare ass down on the sterile paper at the doctor’s office. Will the next generation come with hand sanitizer dispensers in them? Maybe it will just excrete from pores in the controller. I don’t want to live in a world where my video game playing isn’t 99.9% germ free.

The Search for Nels: Part I
Posted on 05.16.05 by Maxim @ 1:28 pm

So my name is Nels Lennes. Not too common, right? Imagine my surprise when I’m playing through The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the Xbox, and I come across a character on the side of the road named Nels Llendo.

Nels Lennes… Nels Llendo…

I have to get to the bottom of this. Here is an email I sent to Bethesda Softworks LLC, the company responsible for this game:

Dear Bethesda Softworks,

My name is Nels Lennes. You’ll notice that my name is eerily similar to the Dark Elf Nels Llendo. I was wondering if there was a way you could arrange a meeting between Nels and myself. I would really like to meet him. We have quite a bit in common:

The native Dunmer Nels Llendo was born as a member of the Erabenimsun ashlander tribe, a group of noble warriors settled in the Molag Amur region. Nels, however, much preffered the spoils of city life and set off to the modern world at a young age, experimenting with the arts of fierce swordsmanship in combination with stealth tactics. With little interest in freelance work to earn his gold Nels took to the roadways, ambushing random caravans and adventurers along deserted travel routes and robbing them for everything they had. These endeavors have led the young and confident Dunmer to think he’s one of the best swordsmen in the region, but encounters in his near future would teach him otherwise.

Story of my life. Anyway, I would appreciate any effort on your part in putting me in contact with Nels.

Thank you!

To be continued…

Standing up! Standing up!
Posted on 05.16.05 by A 47 Danger @ 10:33 am

Xbox 360The new Xbox 360 can stand on it’s side! Holy crap! I don’t believe it!

It really is amazing how far technology has come. I didn’t think any systems would be able to stand on their side. The PS2 proved me wrong there.

I thought that was just a fluke. God had the day off, and those sneaky PS2 developers found a way to stand the PS2 up!

It’s not a fluke, as the Xbox 360 has recreated this feat. This revelation proves, beyond a doubt, that God is dead. God wouldn’t allow things to stand on their sides all willy nilly.

I, for one, am glad God is dead. I really wasn’t too interested in buying an Xbox 360 before. But thanks to the death of God, it can stand on it’s side. That really sealed the deal for me.

Sorry God. I need my side standing systems.

Welcome to Way I Play

Way I Play Crew

This is Way I Play.

Video game news, reviews, and rants from your point of view.

We all work day jobs. We all have hobbies. We all have relationships. And we all play video games in our free time.

We don’t sit down and play video games from start to finish just to get a review done. That’s not what the average gamer does.

If we only finish the first level of a game and then smash it against the wall, that’s our review. If the game sucks, you don’t need to play it through to know it.

That’s just how we play. We may finish a game in a week or we may finish a game in six months.

It’s all written based on the way we play.

After a while you’ll get to know us. We won’t be faceless reviewers. And may, just maybe, you’ll learn to love us. Or trust us. Whatever. We’re not forcing your hand.

We’re also going to give you our honest opinion. There’s no reason to sugar coat it. We’re not trying to impress anyone.

It’s the way we play. Thanks for joining us.
