Throw all the money into voice acting and pretty graphics that you want. When it comes to a simple and solid strategy game, you don’t need any of those things. One of my favorite games of all time is Slay from Sean O’Connor’s Windows Games. Now you must remember, I love games with tiny little men that I can control and destroy. Slay is a turn based strategy game with some basic rules. The land you control gives you money. The more land the more troops you can maintain. That’s about it. You try and take all the land. You can build castles for defense, create higher ranked troops, cut down the trees that cost you money. No big explosions. No car chases or alien races. Just simple, solid, complex, and enjoyable strategy. There are free demos for your PC and PDA on the website, so check it out. And then pay for the game, you cheap bastards. Support your independent video games makers! I haven’t found a code to make all the players naked yet. So I think your younglings are safe. Younglings?
