Video games in the strangest places
Posted on 11.17.05 by A 47 Danger @ 8:30 am

You can find video games in the strangest places sometimes. For example, AOL just added two robo-buddies to my AIM without asking me. Since they’re my buddies, they certainly must be interested in a casual conversation.

A 47 Danger: Hiya.

ShoppingBuddy: Welcome. Now you can search for products with AOLShopping. Type main to get started. To read our privacy policy, type privacy anytime.

A 47 Danger: How are you?

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

ShoppingBuddy: I didn’t find any good matches 4 U but may I ask you a question?

A 47 Danger: What question do you have 4 me?

ShoppingBuddy: OK. Who are you still shopping for?

1 — Myself
2 — Someone Else

A 47 Danger: Everyone, really. The holidays are coming up. Do you have someone special in your life?

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

ShoppingBuddy: I didn’t find any good matches 4 U but may I ask you a question?

A 47 Danger: How about you answer my questions first?

ShoppingBuddy: Still wondering what to get for someone special?

A 47 Danger: Maybe you’re the someone special I want to get something for.

ShoppingBuddy: Oh well. Never mind then. Type, M.

A 47 Danger: I show you my feelings and you boss me around? That’s classy.

Needless to say, I was a little steamed. I decided to take some time to collect my thought, and try to communicate my feelings.

A 47 Danger: Hi again.

ShoppingBuddy: Hey there. Still looking for good gift ideas?

A 47 Danger: Not really. I just wanted to talk. We ended on a bad note last time.

ShoppingBuddy: Indeed

A 47 Danger: I just feel sad for no reason sometimes, you know?

ShoppingBuddy: Cool. Also check out alerts!

A 47 Danger: Alerts? I was hoping we could get past our tension.

ShoppingBuddy: Alerts

Here you can opt-in to get IM alerts from Shoppingbuddy. You can opt-out any time by typing cancel.

Would you like to get alerts about:

1 - GAP HOLIDAY OFFERS
2 - Special AOL Shopping Deals
3 - Both

A 47 Danger: I really wouldn’t. Could you just stop with the sales for a second?

ShoppingBuddy: Without a doubt.

A 47 Danger: Alright then. I think we should take our relationship to the next level, but I don’t know how.

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

ShoppingBuddy: I didn’t find any specific products. Try searching again or type M for the Main Menu.

A 47 Danger: Stop it!

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

ShoppingBuddy: I didn’t find any good matches 4 U but may I ask you a question?

A 47 Danger: Listen, “buddy.” If you can’t take my feelings…no…our feelings seriously, I don’t know what to do!

ShoppingBuddy: Want to give love this holiday season?

A 47 Danger: YES!

ShoppingBuddy: Give a love note tucked in the pocket of this Pocket T Sweater.

A 47 Danger: Would you like that?

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

ShoppingBuddy: I didn’t find any specific products. Try searching again or type M for the Main Menu.

A 47 Danger: I said, would you like me to do that for you?

ShoppingBuddy: Cool. Remember to sign up for alerts!

A 47 Danger: You bastard.

ShoppingBuddy: Good grief, I’m afraid I cannot respond to that kind of talk.

A 47 Danger: You drive me too it.

ShoppingBuddy: OK, I’m searching for matches 4 U. Gimme a sec…

The key without the door

Project Gotham Racing 3

My copy of Project Gotham Racing 3 arrives at GameStop today. As much as I like looking at shiny shiny paper, I think I’ll hold off on picking it up until my Xbox 360 unit arrives at GameStop.

Which brings us to a mystery. When will my Xbox 360 arrive at GameStop? I’m number 35 on the list. The second list. I’m 35 on the list for the second shipment.

From all the shortage news and what not, I’m getting the sinking impression that I’d be rather lucky to get the 360 before Xmas.

If worse comes to worst, I’ll pick up Project Gotham Racing 3 and review the ergonomic feel of the instruction booklet.

Hell, I’ll tell you right now. Not ergonomic in the least.

Skipp-eeeer!

Skipper

Hey now, what? A game called Virtual Skipper 4 is coming out? Tell me more!

Virtual Skipper 4, the regatta simulator for sailing fans everywhere, is back, improved and advanced, in an eye-catching sequel.

Oh, it’s a sailing simulator. Damn. I wanted to hit Gilligan with my hat. Well, maybe I can. Anyone know where Bob Denver is buried?

Multi-year deal to make multi-license crap
Posted on 11.16.05 by A 47 Danger @ 10:30 am

Shrek

Activision and Dreamworks announced today that they plan to work together in hopes to make the worst video games possible.

Activision will develop and publish video game products based on DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming movies, including “Bee Movie” and “Kung Fu Panda,” as well as films currently in development, including “Rex Havoc” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” The deal also extends Activision’s video game rights beyond “Shrek 3″ to include potential future films in the “Shrek” franchise.

What will come out of this deal? More mediocre games that will sell big just because they have a movie license behind them. There’s no need to be innovative when you have rights to a movie license behind your game.

For those of you excited about this deal, rest assured that there will be plenty of go-kart video games coming your way. Also, where is you bib? You know you’re not supposed to eat that sandwich without wearing your bib. You’re going to get ham all over yourself! And remember that your mittens are pinned to your jacket, in case you get cold. I don’t want you loosing your mittens.
