Pac-Man

You will believe Pac-Man can talk. That is, if you buy Pac-Man World 3. Like the past two Pac-Man World games, I’ll leave this game to collect dust on other people’s shelves.

Oh yeah, back to the point. In Pac-Man World 3, Pac-Man will have a voice. Yep, the yellow fatty will actually talk. Here is some information on the wonderful things Pac-Man will say:

With his newly discovered voice, Pac-Man will talk throughout the new title; he will provide helpful back-story information, as well as interact with the other characters.

The only backstory should only come from vaudevillian cut scenes every 3rd level. The only character interaction should be when ghosts are eaten.

Alas, science seems to have repaired Pac-Man’s vocal chords. No longer will Pac-Man have to rely on sign language.

Maybe Pac-Man can talk about his feelings and how his father never hugged him.

It’s not like Pac-Man talking is new. Pac-Man did talk in that 80s TV show he had. Don’t remember the 80s TV show? Here’s some info from IMDB.com:

Each episode followed the same basic plot, with little variation: Pac-Man and his family would be menaced by the ghosts until, just when things were looking grim, one of the Pac-family would chomp some power pills and save the day.

Wow, if the new game is half as good as the 80s cartoon, we’ll have nothing to worry about!

What’s that? Too much internet sarcasm? Let’s see if I can’t end on a honest to goodness happy note.

At least we only have to wait until November to honor Pac-Man’s 25th anniversary with this wonderful game.

No, that was sarcastic too. I give up.

Worst Game of the Week Prediction
Posted on 10.03.05 by A 47 Danger @ 7:38 am

Bratz: Rock Angelz

I am going out on a limb here today. Some people will disagree with this prediction, as this may be the best game to ever be made.

If I am wrong, I will eat my hat. There really hasn’t been enough hat eating recently. When did that phrase go out of style?

Oh yeah, the worst game of the week. I’m going to say it is Bratz: Rock Angelz.

* Play as any of the four Bratz Girls while exploring different adventures
* Customize all of the Bratz girls hair, make-up, and outfits as you shop for the latest fashions
* Travel to exotic International locations to investigate the hottest stories to create your own fashion magazine
* Chat face-to-face with the Bratz characters in their own world

It’s not that I am against a fashion doll that inspires little girls to grow up to be a real pain in the ass for no reason in particular. Wait, that’s exactly what it is.

At least I can chat face-to-face with my favorite Bratz characters in this new game. Maybe I can get some questions answered and they can take a little responsibility for their blithe.

Either way, I’m going to give my Bratz some wicked hair extensions and a mini-skirt!

Their patience has paid off
Posted on 08.26.05 by A 47 Danger @ 2:20 pm

Super Mario 128

Remember how I wrote about how we should all be patient with release dates? I do too. It went something like “we should all be patient with release dates.”

Nintendo has pushed patience to new extremes. Remember Super Mario 128? Announced back when we all thought the Nintendo GameCube would be called the Dolphin? That was back in 2000 and there is no Super Mario 128 to be seen. Oh, but now it will be on the Nintendo Revolution? I call bullshit on that, good sirs.

And then there is Metroid Prime Hunters. The demo came with your DS. It was packaged with it! “I’m a fun game,” it told me. “I will be coming out soon,” it whispered in my ever waiting ears.

But, alas, all dreams are smashed by press releases written by spin doctors.

Since the Nintendo DS first launched with demo versions of Metroid Prime Hunters, fans have been clamoring for the completed version of the game. Their patience has paid off. Metroid Prime Hunters will launch in the first quarter of 2006, complete with access to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo’s upcoming online gaming service.

Their patience has paid off? Next year? How has my patience paid off? You launched the DS in November of 2004 bundled with a demo for this game that is now pushed off until 2006. Where is the payoff?

Yes, I want a good game. But don’t tease me! Just cut the crap, and make a game. I know you don’t have monkeys working on computers making your games. You might have them writing your press releases, but not your games. So get cracking, and quit with all the over promises.

I wonder if the Revolution controller will be released after the Revolution is.

Arrested development
Posted on 08.16.05 by A 47 Danger @ 8:44 am

Twilight Princess

Link has been lost in time. No ocarina can save this Xmas season.

Our development team has decided to take extra time to add some incredible new elements to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As a result, the game will now launch in 2006 globally. We recognize there may be some disappointed fans, however we firmly believe this additional time will result in a much more enjoyable gaming experience.

I’m for more development time. A polished game is always worth the extra time. There is no use rushing out a buggy and flawed game to make a deadline.

You don’t get anything out of a rushed release. Actually, you do. You get screwed. But that’s not an object. You can’t hang it on your wall. You just walk funny for a couple days.

Because your wallet is lighter. Stay with me people. Keep your dirty thoughts to yourself.

Release dates seem much too harsh. With each gaming store trying to get the drop on when the prospective game will come out, it’s hard to keep the wolves at bay.

Gamers want something they can mark on their calendars. Game studios either need to ignore the cries of fans completely or gamers need to give developers a break. Both would be dandy too.

Unrealistic expectations have been set up as the standard. This call is to everybody. Just chill out. Drink some herbal tea, read a book, and calm down. Everything is going to work out fine.

The game industry will keep chugging along. I swear they will. Even if you don’t check for the newest screenshots on IGN.com every single day, that doesn’t mean the game process has stopped. I promise. Everything will be alright, baby. Trust big daddy.
