Hey now, what? A game called Virtual Skipper 4 is coming out? Tell me more!
Oh, it’s a sailing simulator. Damn. I wanted to hit Gilligan with my hat. Well, maybe I can. Anyone know where Bob Denver is buried? Filed under: A 47 Danger and General and PC Comments: None |

The Movies is a fun game with lots of flaws. The most recent game from Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios, who’s eyes are always bigger than their stomach, seems to succeed and fail in equal parts. I started writing a review of this game yesterday, but then I threw it out. If found myself describing every nook and cranny of the game just so I could complain about it. As amusing as my barbs may be, you don’t need a novel to know that The Movies isn’t everything it wants to be. The Movies is a movie studio tycoon game mixed with an actual movie making option. In the tycoon portion of the game, you make scripts, hire actors, research new filming techniques, and so on. It’s all a lot of micromanagment that gets old after a while. The difficulty level isn’t too steep either. While it takes a good 20 hours to finish the main mode, it’s not a taxing time. Easy breezy mixed with displeasure. The movie making option allows you to select from a library of sets, situations, and moods. Sometimes. You see, the option is very limited. You may be carrying a briefcase in one scene, but if you want to have an argument in the next scene you can’t put a briefcase in your actor’s hand. You need a to use a briefcase situation for that. A briefcase situation? So you select your scenes, your actors film it, and then you can edit the film down. You can even add your own voice and lip sync your characters. Your final film can then be submitted online for all to see. All the editing is very sloppy, buggy, and frustrating. The game is fun to mess with. If you have the time to deal with the limitations of making your own movie and the creativity to get around the stumbling blocks, you can have yourself a good time. I would recommend it. I just wish it were a better game. That’s an odd situation to be in. Filed under: A 47 Danger and PC and Preview Comments: None |

I picked up The Movies last week for the PC. It’s a game where you get to run your own movie studio and make your own movies. It’s a fun but flawed game, with a review forthcoming. In the meantime, watch the little sci-fi comedy I put together on Sunday. It’s called One of These Things. Enjoy! Filed under: A 47 Danger and General and PC Comments: None |

It’s time to reveal a secret. I am the voice of the educational game Jigsaw USA from eGames. Whew, that’s a load off. It feels good to get that off my chest. Jigsaw USA is an educational game where you match up different things about different states. Their capitals, birds, mottos, and more. Imagine me in my parent’s computer room with a computer store $15 boom mic recording all of these words over and over again in a surfer voice. I bet you wish you were a fly on the wall at those recording sessions. Considering the poor recording conditions, it all sounds pretty good. Except for the birds. The birds sound really weird. It is kind of amusing hearing a surfer say “Willow Ptarmigan.” The saddest part of the whole affair is I didn’t learn a thing. Heck, I’m not sure where Tennessee is. Spell check even had to correct me on the spelling of Tennessee. I might have gotten stupider, in fact. If you would like to learn from my mistakes, and listen to some lo-fi audio of your state capitals, head on over to eGames and make your desires come true. But you probably shouldn’t. The Worst Game of the Week prediction comes with great responsibility. I couldn’t possibly let these two games, in the same genre, pass without notice. The first worst game of the week is Glacier from Team6:
As exciting as a mountain of death sounds, I’ll have to pass. Combining SSX and Spy Hunter doesn’t sound like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup success story. Need more convincing? Here’s info for Team6’s game called PizzaDude:
I don’t have to proof anything to you. Apparently, you do not need to proof your sentences. The second, but certianly not the not worst, is Ford vs. Chevy from Global Star.
Westington Cup? So this doesn’t have anything to do with Calvin pissing on different types of trucks or cars? That game I would buy. This reminds me of a movie I say on the SciFi channel last night. Boa vs. Python. Perhaps a Ford truck has gone crazy in the sewers, and they need the help of a giant Chevy to track and kill the Ford. Look at all these wonderful game ideas! Oh well, looks like more racing games for us. Just remember these words. Don’t buy these games! Filed under: A 47 Danger and PC and PS2 and Rant Comments: None |
