There is more to the Nintendo Revolution controller than we originally though. Along with the wireless one handed game play and it’s exciting direct pointing device, there is something delightful inside the controller itself. Nintendo has long been known as a company that relishes in it’s own childlike mirth. With this fact in hand, it makes sense that their wireless controller would run on something almost magical. The new Revolution controller runs purely on Pez. That’s right, little tablets of compressed sugar are “consumed” by the controller, creating very little waste. Finally we will have a clean running controller. The controller will also double as a dispenser, to give you that quick burst of energy you need to complete a grueling game of Double Dribble or Super Metroid. Knowing it’s own needs and the user’s needs is a first for video game controllers. Nintendo will work hand in hand with it’s consumers, puns intended. The Revolution is certainly earning it’s name. I do have my own name for this new Ninetendo game system. Delicious! Filed under: A 47 Danger and Humor and Wii Comments: 1 Comment |

Nintendo will release Final Fantasy IV for the GBA in December Appropriately enough, GameSpot this week added FFII (IV) to their list of The Greatest Games of All Time. I’ll definitely be ready this winter to shed a tear for Palom and Porom and laugh at the femmy antics of the Spoony Bard. Only problem is that Gamespot’s thing had me all excited to dust off my Playstation version of FFIV. Now it’ll just seem like wasted effort. UPDATE! 9/16/05 1:30AM HOLY CRAP #2! Sam & Max Hit the Road is one of my favorite games of all time. I am thrillified down to my delicatesticles. UPDATE! 9/16/05 1:35AM HOLY CRAP #3! Remember how I wrote about how we should all be patient with release dates? I do too. It went something like “we should all be patient with release dates.” Nintendo has pushed patience to new extremes. Remember Super Mario 128? Announced back when we all thought the Nintendo GameCube would be called the Dolphin? That was back in 2000 and there is no Super Mario 128 to be seen. Oh, but now it will be on the Nintendo Revolution? I call bullshit on that, good sirs. And then there is Metroid Prime Hunters. The demo came with your DS. It was packaged with it! “I’m a fun game,” it told me. “I will be coming out soon,” it whispered in my ever waiting ears. But, alas, all dreams are smashed by press releases written by spin doctors.
Their patience has paid off? Next year? How has my patience paid off? You launched the DS in November of 2004 bundled with a demo for this game that is now pushed off until 2006. Where is the payoff? Yes, I want a good game. But don’t tease me! Just cut the crap, and make a game. I know you don’t have monkeys working on computers making your games. You might have them writing your press releases, but not your games. So get cracking, and quit with all the over promises. I wonder if the Revolution controller will be released after the Revolution is. Filed under: A 47 Danger and GameCube and Nintendo DS and Rant and Wii Comments: 1 Comment |

Nintendo recently announced that their upcoming system, the Revolution, will not support high definition video. You will be unable to see Mario jumping around at 720p in Mario Party. Nintendo is marching to the beat of their own drum. While Microsoft and Sony try to outdo each other on the exact same field, Nintendo seems to be playing catch alone in their own backyard. A very large, creative, and well kept backyard. Let’s all raise our right hands. Got them up? Good. You have five digits on that hand. With only your five available fingers, count the number of 16 year olds that have purchased HDTVs with the money they have saved from clerking at Walgreens. Don’t get me wrong. HDTV is fantastic! It looks crisp and clear. The widescreen brings another level of immersion to gameplay. But it Nintendo really loosing any ground by not supporting it? You already have large systems that are shouting claims from the tops of their respective mountains. You’re not going to beat them in a shouting match. Better to turn heads by eating flaming swords in your mountainous monk sanctuary. Nintendo is going to be just fine. The video game industry could use some new and creative ideas. While the Playstation and Xbox are going simply for bigger and better, Nintendo is going for different and fun. It may be a next generation counsel, but it will be in a league of it’s own. We here at Way I Play seem to be a little sarcastic and bitter for some reason. Without paying massive amounts of money for professional help, it is much simpler to give the next generation of video game counsels three put ups. Put Up #1: Your commitment to wireless controllers makes me weep. Even though I will still sit very close to the TV, my roommate’s cat can no longer destroy the precious cords that make playing your wonderful video games possible. Put Up #2: Your many holes are a welcome sight. You are allowing me to stick many things in to you, and in a strictly non-sinful way. Ethernet cables, USB cables, compact flash cards, and the rest. I can not wait to buy things to put in to you. Your holes must be filled. Put Up #3: Your graphics are very pretty. You worked very hard to make your cars very shiny and your people very squishy looking. Because cars are shiny and people are squishy. Your things look like things that they are supposed to look like. Please let me make my shiny car run into something squishy. That would be fun. There. That didn’t kill me. Now, where’s my karma? I had better find some money on the ground for this little display of niceness. Filed under: A 47 Danger and PS3 and Wii and Xbox 360 Comments: None |

This is the one I’ve been waiting for:
Sam and Max have been resurrected by the team that was supposed to be doing their sequel at Lucasarts!
