I need to write 14 individual summaries for 14 different news articles article. Because these articles all have the same theme- human rights in china, i also have to write one big summary including stuff from the news articles about the theme (human rights). I already have all the news articles and i have highlighted all the main points in each article. What should my format be like and how long should the summaries be? It would also be helpful to know exactly how to write a summary. Thanks!
Your best bet would be to summarize the leads (first paragraph) of the stories. Or look at the first three paragraphs of the stories. That is generally what the crux of the story is about.
You could summarize by writing something like, "Recent news reports about human rights in China show that ________"
Focus on the main themes and highlight at least three points from the stories. Good luck.

What are the criterias for a news item and what are the criterias for a feature article?
I need to write both a news item and a feature article in an assignment so it is important I know the differences between these two.
A feature article is usually begun on the front page of a newspaper, and has a headline accompanying it.
A news item is usually inside the papers inner pages, with a very small headline.

Haiti is certainly the biggest news event right now. Compared to CNN and MSNBC, Fox News’ coverage of this major catastrophe has been very light. Fox spent more time on the ACORN tapes. Why is this? Does Fox News only devote significant amounts of time to "news" that can be politicized and used to attack the Left?
They’re like Pat, They think Haitians deserved it because they made a pact with the devil.

I want to become a news anchor. I have the looks, talent, and willpower, but I need to know what else I can do to be successful. I don’t necessarily want to become famous, but I would like to support myself adequately. What can I do to assure success, and how long will I have to work to become a news anchor?
You have to be very competitive and good at doing stuff fast. Being able to quickly do a story and be articulate. Be able to interview people well and make them feel important when you interview them. You will most likely be a reporter before you be an anchor. A lot of it is luck too so GOOD LUCK!!!

I’ve always wondered how they did those cool text animations and spinning channel logos (such as fox news) or the opening title sequences with all the flashy words and animations. This is just out of curiosity.
Many of them use Zaxwerks programs. I’ve used Invigorator for years and it’s quite cool. Zaxwerks, com.

We have lots of news channels and only one weather channel. In my opinion we don,t need storm series until after midnight. Please keep the local on the 8ths at all othe times.
TV channels exist to make money for their owners. The way they may money is that they sell advertising. The price of advertising depends on the number of viewers who actually see the advertisement. Channels user rating services to measure their viewership in order to support the prices they charge their advertisers.
The problem that the Weather Channel has is that they provide information that can be neatly packaged in segments of a few minutes length. They simply repeat those segments continuously (weather on the 8’s). That’s good for viewers who want to get a weather forecast. But it’s not good for the Weather Channel because it means that they can’t retain viewers – viewers turn on the Weather Channel to watch a segment in order to see what the weather is going to be, and then they switch back to programming on some other channel.
The Weather Channel wants to increase their advertising rates in order to increase their revenue. And to do that, they need to migrate to programming that will hold viewers on the Weather Channel. Hence, you are seeing things like Weather Channel movies (featuring movies with notable weather-related themes) for example.

I’m applying to colleges right now and I have different majors in my mind, mostly business/marketing. I’m a huge fan of sports and I’m wondering what sports news reporters major in in college?
Journalism would be good.

Often the networks will play small segments from a speech, examples being Obama in Elko Nevada and McCains Michigan town-hall meeting
today. I say air these speeches live without commercials all day and cut back on the commentary and political shows. Especial for Headline news.
Hey i live in Elko!
That’s why we have C-Span, which does a lot of that during the course of a campaign. Check the Web site to see what the schedule is.
As for the other channels, they have bills to pay. They know showing a 20-minute speech is going to turn some viewers off, so they show highlights. Plus, stump speeches often are the same from day to day — kind of like hearing the same concert over and over again.

When you watch the news or weather channel, there is always an animation banner with words, at the bottom of your tv screen. I What kind of program do they use to make those banners ?
Examples of cast members who use these banners. Fox News, The Weather Channel, CNN, HLN, And WWE.
it had to search for it, but the program they probably use is Avid Deko, check their website: http://www.avid.com/US/products/family/Deko
