Why won’t news networks air complete political speech rallies from start to finish?

Often the networks will play small segments from a speech, examples being Obama in Elko Nevada and McCains Michigan town-hall meeting
today. I say air these speeches live without commercials all day and cut back on the commentary and political shows. Especial for Headline news.
Hey i live in Elko!
That’s why we have C-Span, which does a lot of that during the course of a campaign. Check the Web site to see what the schedule is.
As for the other channels, they have bills to pay. They know showing a 20-minute speech is going to turn some viewers off, so they show highlights. Plus, stump speeches often are the same from day to day — kind of like hearing the same concert over and over again.

basically the speeches are about the same.
with one particular candidate it is really true. the same speech over and over and over.
the little snippets they do show, are hopefully, something different, but in most cases, they aren’t.

Short attention span in the audience. Just be glad that the Eastern networks could even find Elko, let alone have a camera there to record the speech.
